The first of a two part exhibition of the BFA graduates from the MIWSFPA at Brock University. I visited it repeatedly with several fellow artists / writers and those conversations became this response.
J.E. Simpson and I met at a “pop up” exhibition of his work in NAC, and found we shared some of the same interests in text and art and the spaces between. I visited his studio and continued the conversation.
Bruno Capalongo offers meditative works at the Grimsby Public Art Gallery that explore beauty in frailty, and beauty in that which is damaged.
Melanie MacDonald’s Florida Noir, in the Dennis Tourbin Gallery at Niagara Artists Centre, is another example of how she’s one of the finest painters in the region. We talked about her influences and I offer some impressions of the works on display.
